You know that I'm a huge fan of the French band Adam Kesher. I've brought them to NYC two times in the past 2 years and I'm very convinced these guys are going to be huge.  Visit them to pick up their fantastic album Heading For the Hills, Feeling Warm Inside.

I heard from the guys a few weeks ago and forgot to relay the message.  The whole band is in the studio in Paris working on a new album.  I've yet to hear anything from their sessions, but they have Blackjoy working the knobs...expect something special.

If you aren't on our mailing list, send an email to peopledontdancenomore@gmail.com to get signed up. We've got 30 membership cards to distribute to you dedicated PDDNM'ers.

Important party notes: You don't need a membership card to come. Go to http://www.playhardsc.com to RSVP (its $10 w/o a card, but you need to RSVP). Also, the party goes LATE but get there before 3:30 am.

Confused? Yeah me too. As always, the PDDNM bottom line = booze and disco dancing...Read on: See you at Lindstrom on Thursday night!

In the USA, our puritanical past typically leads to shame about partying. "Work Hard"... a value system that has been drilled in our heads since the Mayflower landed. For better or for worse, we push ourselves to grind. But remember this -- for every yin, there is a yang. If we work hard, we play harder.

At PHSC we ask you to come into an unexpected space and shake off your history. Join us for a low-key warehouse kickback, rediscover this fine city of ours, meet the folks that make it special, linger in a lovingly-crafted cocktail, nod your head to the musical choices, slow yourself down enough to enjoy the moment. ...and hit on the sexy lil thing next to you? Well yes, of course. That too. Make sure to say hello to your hosts, they love you. Tip your bartender, they'll intoxicate you. Chat up the doorperson, they are the gatekeepers to your night. (ed: buy your DJ a drink...)

**we are "locking in" the party after 3:30. No new entries after that time. We are doing this to avoid the inevitable bum rush of lunatics that tend to descend on parties in the wee hours.

People Don't Dance No More is back in Manhattan this Wednesday at the new yakitori bar Mr. Jones on 14th Street.

Mr. Jones is a beautiful new bar with cocktails by the minds behind Angel Share, a mid-century modern decor, and killer yakitori menu. Beers are $5 all night and the kitchen is open late. What's better than dancing, drinking, and eating? Just be careful with your skewer.

If you haven't been to a PDDNM in a while, check out a live set from our December party here.

More disco to come, stay tuned!

Fever Ray

I just got a copy of Fever Ray's album. I don't usually immediately listen to CDs I get sent, but this is Karin from The Knife.

There couldn't be a more incredible way to spend this cold (really dark cold) night in NYC than with this album.

Being a die hard, melancholic Depeche Mode fan you know this is right up my alley. This is innovative, futuristic electronic music. Much of the Knife remains...its twisted and dark. Yet something more organic happens on this album and it comes out surprisingly uplifting.

This is the soundtrack to my winter.

You can download the whole album now on Amazon, the CD comes out 3/23 on Mute.

"Seven" is my favorite track so far.

This is the devastatingly haunting video for the first single "If I Had a Heart":

Stay Tuned (Sans a Dime in 09)

I just joined the seemingly ever growing ranks of the unemployed.

That's going to allow me to get back to business around these parts.

I'm planning on giving this a full redesign and adding to the scope of the site.  Expect more art, design, retail developments, lots of random 35mm photos, and other diversions.  We'll be adding contributors as well.

The dancing will continue: People Don't Dance No More.

Stay in touch in the meantime via Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr.

More after this...
