LIFE IS BORING | CAZALS

I first got wind of the UK rockers CAZALS.jpgCazals on the Kitsune Maison Deux and quickly sought out anything of theirs that I could get my hands on. At the time, that was very little. Two years on and they are Kitsune's house rawk band and just completed work on their debut album What of Our Future. Life is Boring is their first single from the album and features blinding remixes from Crookers, Rory Phillips, and Ali Love/Harder. It drops next week.

Cazals - Life is Boring (Myspace)

I'm just as pysched for the limited 12" with artwork by André/Mr. A. Maybe Turntable Lab will have your copy in NYC or hang around rue Thérèse to see if one floats out the window of the KMHQ.

Cazals are out on a UK tour, but we'll do our best to get them to the States soon :)

Beach House | New Album

beachh11.jpgBeach House - Gila

I loved the first Beach House album and never really got around to telling anyone about them.

A pop duo from Baltimore that you might have caught live with Grizzly Bear or on their own during the last 2 years.

I didn't.

They were kind of an Ipod-mellow-secret-private-time listening, trans-continental flight type of band for me.

Ethereal and poppy at the same time, their new disc Devotion is simply sublime pop that deserves to be heard and I look forward to catching them live this time...

It's out next week on the super cool Carpark Records label.

Tour dates after the bump...

The Parking Meters | Ambigu

diggin.jpgThe Parking Meters - Ambigu (Instrumental)

So I just recently starting digging. I will try and post up some of the weirder shit that I've come across.

If you've been to one of our parties, you've heard us drop some pretty fun(ny) Italo/Euro tracks from the 80s. We don't have quite the skill of our buddy Dan Selzer, but we do what we can.

Example D (anergy): Jacques Renault + Dan Selzer Live from People Don't Dance No More November 2007

(Be sure to visit Dan and read his history of Transmission at Plant Bar if you live in NYC and/or like recent music history like me).

The Parking Meters were one of dozens of Belgian bands I hope to unearth in my record hunts briefly popular in 1983 and 1984. I put up the Instrumental because the original is a bit hard to stomach ("You're so ambigu"...Wtf?) but I might play it if I'm feeling cheesy.

This is 80s cheese indeed. Enjoy.

Escort Friday at Southpaw

Escort have done quite a bit to fuel the current disco rivival going on here in NYC.

They are a 12+ piece band that really jams out live disco and are responsible for some of the sexiest jams of the past 2 years: "Starlight" and "All Through the Night" are permanently on rotation around these parts... You also might have caught a few of their members DJing at one of our parties, but seeing them live is the real deal.

escort.jpg

They are playing a bit of a homecoming show this Friday in Brooklyn at Southpaw. Do not miss this, Escort are really on the cusp of blowing up.

Tickets are $10 and I think Ayres from the Rub is DJing afterwards.

Venue: Southpaw
Time: Fri 10pm.
Address: 125 Fifth Ave between Sterling and St. Johns Pls, Park Slope Park Slope, Brooklyn
Phone:718-230-0236
Travel: Subway: B, Q, 2, 3, 4, 5 to Atlantic Ave; D, M, N, R to Pacific St; 2, 3 to Bergen St

I forgot how much I loved the Muppet Show video for "All Through the Night" until Kristin posted it last week:
