200 Orchard in Trouble | Fight for the Lower East Side

Our venue and friends at 200 Orchard have run into some trouble with the SLA and are shutting their doors this Sunday. Please help by signing the petition, no matter where you are reading from.

On Wednesday 17th of October the New York State Liquor Authority denied the application to transfer the liquor license from the old Orchard bar to 200 Orchard on the grounds that it was not in the best interests of the community. This is not an application for a new license, just a basic transfer of an existing license that has been in effect for the last 12 years. We have been open since Feb 2007, under a temp license issued by the SLA and in those 8 months we have not had one 311 complaint, no noise complaints, and have not had any fights in the bar. We have been actively supporting all of the arts in the community. A community that is being robbed of its identity by huge corporations. We ask you to sign this petition, which will be presented to the SLA, not only to support our bar but to support the survival of the Lower East Side as we know and love it. Thanks All at 200 Orchard

Jacques Renault + Dan Selzer Live From People Don't Dance No More November

PDDNM_NOV.jpg

Against the odds (a cold, wet night & a late start on promotion) this past Friday night at Studio B was a blast. Thanks to everyone who stopped on by and got down with us and thanks to Eamon & Jacques for stepping in at the last minute to help rock the room.

Dan Selzer was on point and dropped some serious heat. Luckily for those of you that took the night off (or weren't fortunate enough to be in NYC): we've got about an hour of the night for you right here.

It's split pretty evenly between Jacques and Dan. The first half is Jacques and the second is Dan and they are both equally mental sets...

Our homies at RCRD LBL have finally gone live.

Take a look around. Ad supported, free and clear music. Will it change the music industry?

I don't know. But you know we love Jacques Renault and he's one of their launch artists.

The New Museum Opens This Weekend | DISCO HOURS

newmuseum.JPG

The New Museum of Contemporary Art, a long time resident of downtown, is shifting eastward and opening their new SANAA designed digs on the Bowery this weekend.

Thanks to TARGET the museum will be open 30 hours from noon Saturday December 1st until 6 pm on Sunday night. The trick is you have to get a FREE reserved time ticket. The only times left are the sweet spots for us nightcrawlers...I'll see you at 4:30 on Saturday morning.

UPDATE: I just got note that Mr. Sarcastic Disco DJ Harvey and Prince Language will be DJing the opening night from Midnight til 4 am. Since tickets for those times are sold out, just show up and dance on the sidewalk.
