The Sound of the Weekend | Klaxons V. Erol

Casper Fluokids finally pulled the trigger on the remix I've been waiting all year to tell you guys about.

Klaxons - Golden Skans (Erol Alkan's Ekstra Spektral Dub) (Click to go to Fluoland) MMM thats nice.

That piano breakdown gives me goosebumbs. Erol's full Spektral Remix is on the CD single out Jan 22 and its even more amazing. The vocal stabs are sick.

Snag Para One's Bloc Party mix while you are over in Fluoville.

Both will be rocked this weekend.

People Don't Dance No More is Friday. Add PDDNMnyc to Yourspace now. RSVP for $10 list ASAP, the queue is filling up.

Grace - Not Over Yet

We are stuck in a bit of a Klaxons rut. Deal with it.

Klaxons - Not Over Yet

Just an FYI for all you heads new to dance music: this video is the shit Klaxons are covering. Rave pills 1995 doled out via Paul Oakenfold.

Saturday FRICTION at Sin-e | Afterparrrrty!

Friction_January13_flyer.jpg

Come out and party on Saturday night!

Crackers United presents FRICTION
Saturday Jan. 13th at Sin-e
O'Death
Mahogany
Daylight's For the Birds
Relay
DJ shit by MOI

As usual, the Crackers have put together a solid, solid lineup. I'm really psyched to see Mahogany and O'Death. Mahogany's new disc has been on solid rotation for me, if you like My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins, you'll love Connectivity. I do.

I'll be spinning some records between bands and then throwing an afterparty in the Sin-e bar. Come out and dance on Attorney street!

Band bios and MP3s over at CU.

The Glorious Ninth Tonight at Pianos

Pistolwhipped Alumni The Glorious Ninth play a special show tonight at 10 pm at Pianos NYC.

They've been hard at work on their new album and will surely play a few new rockgasms.

Thanks to the Crackers United team for an amazing night on Saturday: Mahogany killed, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs showed up, and we gave the Sin-e bar a good dose of rave.

Lots of big news coming up this week, stay tuned.

Dazzle Ships Listening Party With IKE YARD | Wednesday

This Dazzle Ships event looks to be pretty awesome. Dan Selzer and Jeremy Campbell have put together a little listening party to dust off some classics. I'll let Dan explain:

"New York's only monthly post-punk dub cosmic disco art rock proto techno krautrock ndw listening party returns this Wednesday January 17th with another special event. Join hosts Dan Selzer (acute records, nyhappenings, me) and Jeremy Campbell (tropical computer systems, alldisco) as we belatedly celebrate Acute Records summer release of the Ike Yard CD collection. We will be joined by the guys from the band as we play and listen to some classic sounds from their friends, influences, peers and likeminded folk."

Heather's is at 506 E. 13th Street (at Ave A) in the East Village NYC.

Buy the IKE YARD comp over at the Acute Webshop.

New Dibaba | Kitsune News

Dibaba - All We Need (Emergency) (Yousendit)

We love Dibaba. He's got the touch that makes the big rooms bang and the finesse to make the basements burst.

His new track, out soon on Boogie Farm, is a hint of Get Physical with some pop appeal.

Buy the 12" for the WICKED Thomas Andersson remix.

More New York Kitsune Connections

Last week over at BV, I mentioned that New Yorker Passions is going to drop a 12" on Kitsune. Now we hear from the Crackers that kind of New Yorkers Thieves Like Us is going to put out a few tracks on the Parisian hit maker.

Sleeze | New Track from THE GLASS

Big thanks to the FOTP crew for a fun Friday night.

I just took a glance at my calendar and noticed this week is a busy one.

Here's a look at whats going off this week.

Monday

Peter, Bjorn & John hit Mercury Lounge

Tuesday

Peter, Bjorn & John move to the Bowery
Joakim is DJing at APT

Wednesday

Shy Child, Ra Ra Riot, and Born Ruffians are at Merc

Thursday

The Glass shake up Galapagos

This is a brand new track from Dominique and DJ Wool's band THE GLASS. They just returned from a cracking European Tour and this single is white hot. They've procured a bunch of remixes, but I'm digging the original.

The Glass - Come Alive

RiotWine Mix

I told you awhile ago about a cool company my buddy is starting called RiotWine (that's the little black logo up on the right hand side of this site).

They started shipping their first month's selection of wine and commissioned me to do a little "Wine Drinking Mix" for them to include with the shipment.

It's posted up on the RiotWine Blog for your downloading pleasure. Pop a bottle of wine and groove out.

We'll be doing an event with the RiotWine crew in the next month or so. Free (quality) wine and (quality) beats.

(I dropped the mix into the Podcast as well.)

Smash Bag of Bangers

A few things to check out that I'll be talking about in the coming weeks:

Shakes (no the) are my new obsession on my Big Stereo

All Night Dance Party prove they aren't just a clever name at Acid Girls

Get Justice's new D.A.N.C.E.Y. funk jam over at 20 Jazz Funk Greats (as well as a spot on rewording of "Losing My Edge")

Tell the boys at Crackers United that Goose has something to do with Soulwax

Does It Offend You, Yeah? shouldn't offend These Rocks Pop
