Josh Wink Tonight at Love | Guns'N'Bombs

The weather is going to be terrible tonight.

Come spend the evening in a dark club with Josh Wink, dance like you are in East German Berlin circa 1988, and drink like its winter in Lenningrad.

Speaking of Commies...if you arrive before 11, its only $5.

Club Love is at 179 Macdougal @ 8th Street.

Hit me up if you want to join, it should be a an awesome time. Love has a sick soundsystem.

Here's a tasty treat to get you in the mood: Radiohead - Everything In Its Right Place (Josh Wink Remix)

The Week in Sleeze

I know, I know...Seriously, it's about to go down.

While you wait, here's the week at a glance:

Monday

The French band Rock & Roll hits Mercury Lounge tonight.

I haven't listened to these guys yet, but they dress well and come highly recommended by our Parisian friends. Not that this would make you go, but they also played Misshapes on Saturday.

Wednesday

Cassettes Won't Listen plays the early slot at the Merc.

Jay just dropped his new jawn The Quiet Trial on Dope Lotus Records. Swing by the show to grab a copy and the hot new gang sign tee.

Friday

Catch the New Young Pony Club's NYC debut at Denny and Spencer's RUFF CLUB.

Congrats to them, they were recently voted the best new party by Paper Mag.

After you get your NYPC fix, head out to Studio B and make love for Death From Above.

DFA Holiday Party at Studio B

James Murphy & Pat Mahoney

Tim Goldsworthy & Tim Sweeney

Andy Butler

$8 at the door plus you can bring your little sister, its 18+

The last time I saw James Murphy, he played a bunch of space disco to the bottle service crowd at Hiro. I hope to hear some choice cuts off of the new LCD Soundsystem album this time!

If you want to keep it rockin' on Manhattan our homies, the Cut Crew, will be throwing down in the basement of Lit. Rockout Makeout. I'll post up a flyer whence I find one.

Dirty Down at Lit

Saturday

I think I've sufficiently freaked out about this party enough, so here's the flyer.

Modular Christmas Party

New Young Pony Club (live)

Thieves Like Us (live)

Juan Maclean, Tim Sweeney, and Miss M.A. on the Decks

Get there early for M.A. and Thieves Like Us!

Right around the corner, you can drop in on some more Cut madness at Savalas. MAD SUSPECT!

You know we love a bit of Headman.

We tipped you off on his forthcoming compilation a while back on a post about Yuksek. Well its finally out!

Its practically a who's who in whats going down right now in what I'd like to call Downtown Dance music, or what Mary Ann calls "Haircut Electro". You say tomato...

You can stream it over at the Relish site. It includes bangers from Headman, Riot in Belgium, and Yuksek. It also includes a few tracks from the fantastic David Gilmour Girls, also on the Relish label. They have a sexy new 12" out now, Crimson As Murder.

The comp also features remixes by Kissy Sell Out and 909 D1sco, aka Alex Ridha, aka BOYS NOIZE!

Mr. Noize will be bringing the hate next weekend to Fixed.

Welcome to the new and improved Slap You in Motherfuckin' Public!

Slap You in Public Dot Com

Should you be linking to us, please update your links. Who knows how long it will take until Google-nation finds out I've got a redirect rockin.

Take a look around, let me know your thoughts. Some things still need to be ironed out and we'll be adding new features as I learn how to drive this site. Kind of like learning how to drive stick.

I was hoping to launch with a sick new DJ mix that I've been working on, but alas the mix wasn't ready.

It's coming soon.
________________________________________________________________________

Here's a mix for you while you wait.

Spacey and sexy, we popped you on to DJ Heartbeat and his DeMEnT3d party in Paris back in September. He's graciously sent us a new mix to share with you and I couldn't think of a better way to launch the new look.

DJ Heartbeat - DeMEnT3d Session Nov 06

If you are in Paris, hit up his next DeMEnT3d party on Dec 22nd at MadaM. Entree Libre!

MODULAR! | New Young Pony Club at Williamsburg White Room

What a great party.  $2 beers that never ran out.  I feel awful, so this will be a bit short.

Thieves Like Us has a really sexy thing going.  Despite some sound issues, I really dug their vibe.  I'm a sucker for a synth band.  I'm looking forward to their show next Friday at the Delancey.

New Young Pony Club were everything I wanted, just two songs too short.  I was standing in front of the speaker and they sounded fantastic.  Very tight, very fun.  These kids are really going to be big.

M.A. played some great tracks and Juan Maclean really killed.

I think it was a little too bright in the White Room and people never really let loose like they do at Studio B.  All in all, fantastic party and it was great to catch up with a lot of people last night.

Props to Modular for using a Prada cashbox, I'm looking in to that for my next party.

Friction at Sin-e | Ra Ra Riot

I'm getting pounded at work. Seriously, like Oz-style jail love.

On the brightside, tonight I'm looking forward to catching the next edition of Crackers United's Friction party.

They have done a really awesome job of catching bands at that exact moment before they hit the stratosphere.

Tonight is no exception:
Friction at Sin-e
(150 Attorney at Stanton)
11 pm Bound Stems
10 pm Ra Ra Riot
9 pm The Muggabears
8 pm Tall Hands

Lots o'blogohype on all of these bands. Search and destroy.

New Chemical Brothers | Minimix | Finger on the Pulse!

Chemical Brothers - Electronic Battle Weapon 8

Basically, the Chemical Brothers put out these wax only tracks aimed squarely at destroying the dancefloor. The first Chem's Battle Weapon I experienced was on the dancefloor at Vinyl via Mr. Tenaglia. "It Began in Africa" destroyed me for most of the early part of the decade, it still gets me going when I hear it.

This new banger is another genreless epic gem, shades of minimal with hints of acid. I'm sure you'll hear everyone playing this track from now until next December. Listen for it on Annie Mac or Pete Tong tonight.

If you meth freaks need to hear it now, you can "Listen Again" to last weeks Annie Mac's Mash Up here and skip to 22 mins.

Annie's show is my favorite way to start the weekend. It used to be on Thursdays, but now the BBC has decided that Friday is the new Thursday and dropped her on after the Essential Selection on Friday nights.

Annie's got a bit called the "Minimix," a 5 minute mashup mix from the hottest producers of the minute. Exhibit A:

Justice - Minimix for Annie Mac

My buddies from Finger on the Pulse sent out their year end mixes recently and I immediately thought of tying them in with this Minimix post.

A bit longer, but the same idea nonetheless. Hot hotness in true ADD style, Never Forget on the dance-tip and Terry Diabolik's on the Pulse of the 60s:

DJ Never Forget - Shaken and Strengthened

DJ Terry Diabolik - And I'm Feelin' Good

Its all over.

Electro Nonsense | Mighty Boosh & Peep Show

The holidays are here and I'm guessing you cats are travelling about.

For hours upon hours of entertainment, head over to Pirate Bay and pick up these two British comedy shows: Peep Show and Mighty Boosh.

Peep Show is downright amazing, Mighty Boosh is a bit more of an aquired taste.

This is a hilarious slice of the Boosh:

Ascii Disko

I've been meaning to post about Ascii Disko for a while now.

I featured his last jam, Baphomet, on one of my first podcasts.

I first become aware of Ascii Disko, Daniel Holc from Madrid via Germany, while I was at Ovum from a twisted remix he did for Josh Wink.

I picked up his Einfach Ep and was totally blown away. He puts out some of the most underrated jams in the world. Seriously, these tracks are some of my secret weapons. Total rock and roll dancefloor devastation that hath lain the path that Justice walks on.

Daniel has put some of his new work up on the AsciiSpace and it is some pretty amazing stuff. Listen for that breakdown in Black Summer.

This is a little jam that Daniel sent us that will go well with your standard rave revivalism. Tounge in cheek?

Ascii Disko - MDMA

You may be familiar with Ascii from his banging remix of the Presets! That's him here doing his impersonation of me. Go Presets.

The Valentinos are (NOT) Coming! | NOT AT Club Midway Jan 4th

Round two of the Australian new-esque-wave bands, The Valentinos, are coming to NYC.

It smells of a Modular Monthly, no?

Jan 4th, 2007
The Valentinos
Club Midway

$5

The Valentinos have recently put out a new EP (Is that all it takes these days?) down under called "Damn & Damn Again." Its been slowly creeping up on my playlists.

Hailing from the creative hotbed that is Sydney, their first EP has been remixed to death by their peers in crime. Vol 7 of my podcast has the excellent Bang Gang vs Van She Tech remix of CCTV. Kitsune Maison 3 has the retarded Bag Raiders remix of Kafka.

Moral: You should have heard of them by now. Pick up their new disc.

They definitely are children of the 80s, but not the Max Headroom 80s of Cut Copy & Van She, more like the Cold War 80s of Bauhaus and the Cure.

Head over to the Big Stereo for their brilliant video for Nightmoves and a sexy remix by a dude from Cut Copy and a dude from Riot in Belgium!

Speaking of Modular, they have outdone themselves with their new tee shirt collaboration with their artists! Check it.
