New News on The Knife Show Nov. 1st

I just got this email from Bowery Presents. It seems they added another performance to The Knife's Nov 1st NYC Gig...

Get tickets to the 10:15 show here. It might make sense to get tickets to both, then sell the ones you don't want. CMJ show scheduling gets a bit dicey...

"Thank you for your recent purchase of tickets to THE KNIFE at WEBSTER HALL. Due to overwhelming demand a second (late) show has been added. Because of this door times for the original performance have been changed from 8PM to 6PM. The tickets you have purchased are valid for the EARLY SHOW. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you require a refund please contact TicketWeb - customerservice@ticketweb.com - no later than October 30."

The Presets Tonight at Galapagos!

The boys of Crashin' In brought in two of my favorite dudes: THE PRESETS.

Crashin' In Presents: The Presets, Goat Explosion (formerly known as Elkland), Holy Hail, Djs: Oil(Kanine Records) and Eamon (Calling All Kids) @ Galapagos

Doors are at 10 so I'm guessing it will be a late one...if you can't do that on a Tuesday, I know they are playing at 6 pm tonight at Virgin Megastore too.

I'll look into this more, but MSTRKRFT seem to be playing at Don Hill's on Friday night. I think it might be a live show to debut their new album The Looks...but it may be just a DJ gig.

Rollerskating Videos

Huge trend alert...Rollerskating in your video is the new dancing on a treadmill.

Two pieces of evidence: 1. Walter Meego's new video for Romantic & 2. the Rapture's video for Get Myself Into It. The latter has a reference to a mainstream blonde songbird who also has a rollerskating video in current MTV rotation...

The Rapture will be at the Soho Apple store next Tuesday (9/12) to play a few jams off of their new album Pieces of the People We Love. It starts at 8pm, get there early if you want to catch them. The album is fantastic. Sunshine replaces gloom, but the beats are there and sexy.

"I used to think the world was a bitter pill, but now I know its a grand ole' time..."

The Presets show was cool last night, I didn't have the stamina to stay til the end, but I'm sure some other blogos did...

Brazilian Girls | MSTRKRFT Remix #1,205,252

If you've listened to the new INACTION:ACTION podcast you've had a listen to the new Brazilian Girls track, "Jique". I haven't heard the rest of the album, but I hear that there is more disco goodness to come. Talk to La Bomb is released on Tuesday, Sept 12. Pick it up when you are at Other Music to get the Rapture disc.

The guys and lady of Brazilian Girls will be rockin' their new album at Speiegeltent at the South Street Seaport on Thursday Sept 14th (Tix), and return Thursday Oct 5th at Webster Hall (Tix). Their live show is both haunting and amazingly danceable...

Thanks to my buddy Blair, I've got a hot nugget for you:

Brazilian Girls - Jique (MSTRKRFT Remix)

The lovely Justine D and Philly dude Dave P will be hosting the boys of MSTRKRFT at a massively packed Don Hill's on Friday night. I will be there. You should be there. Everyone else will be there.

NIGHT TIME @ Don Hill's
511 Greenwich St. @ Spring
11pm-4am w/ Special Guest DJ's:
MSTRKRFT

Come early...this night will be bonkers!!!

Ladies love MSTRKRFT (and they love Wolfmother) so here are a few pairings made in lady heaven:

Metric - Monster Hospital (MSTRKRFT Remix)
Wolfmother - Woman (MSTRKRFT Remix)

Ticket Alerts | Lily Allen REMIX Contest

More on sale info fo' yo' ass...All the makings for a sexy week in October.

Tomorrow (Friday) @ Noon

Lily Allen at Hiro Oct 10th
(Side note: I haven't mentioned Lily in a while. We first posted about her back in May, 2 months later she went on to score a number 1 hit in the UK with "Smile". Despite having yanked her MP3s due to RIAA intervention, this post is STILL the number 1 traffic driver to Slap You in Public. 99% from the UK. The UK = Lilyville. I really dig her album and I'm pysched to see how she translates it into a live show.)

Badly Drawn Boy at Hiro Oct 11th & 12th
Disillusion is still one of my all time favorites...Badly Drawn Boy - Disillusion

I would suggest the Oct 12th show and pick up tickets to the Oct 11 Basement Jaxx show at Webster.

CONTEST ALERT

Lily wants YOU to remix her single LDN. Get the parts here. Send us your remixes too!! Best remix will win something. Not sure what, but we'll dig something up and we'll feature you on the site.

Two GRIMEY remixes to get you pysched (and drive traffic)...

Lily Allen - LDN (Radioclit Remix)
Lily Allen - Smile (Gutter Mix) (Aaron Lacrate on the nobs)

NEXT WEEK = GLOWSTICK MANIA | LOADS OF MUSIC

This week was a wash. Sorry for the inactivity. Its Fashion Week. I was chillin' with Marc, Zac, and Diddy.

Next week the Modular and Fixed crews drop the hate on your asses. Two massive FUCKING DANCE PARTIES that will destroy your soul.

TUESDAY
The MODULAR MONTHLY!
Klaxons (UK, US DEBUT MOTHERFUCKERS!)
120 Days (Norway, Live) (Go to Crackers for a track, they sound spacey)
9 PM, Club Midway (Scenic)
25 Ave B (Between 2nd & 3rd Sts)
$5 with RSVP (You must RSVP)

The Klaxons are awesome. I'm not sure why I haven't told you that yet. They are leading some sort of neo-rave revolution. Hopefully, that means Prodigy will come to NYC to play "Experience" from beginning to end. On to the music, two originals and a slew of remixes. Check my post on the next wave of the Modular fam Van She, for their Klaxons remix.

Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone
Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow
Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone (Crystal Castles Remix)
Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone (Third Eye Mafia Remix) (Huge Rave Breakdown at 4:25)
Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow (To My Boy Remix)

THURSDAY
FIXED
Radio Soulwax Presents:
NITE VERSIONS (Soulwax Live!)
2 MANY DJS
KLAXONS (UK) live!
Plus FIXED DJs JDH & DAVE P
@ Studio B- 259 Banker St (between Calyer and Meserole Ave)

I've heard that Nite Versions is an hour long live fucking dance party. They'll mix live elements from other massive dance floor hits into their own tracks.

Mentalism. Do what you can to get out of work on Friday.

JDH & DAVE P
New live mix from JDH & Dave P!
This one is from the Modular Records Monthly Party last month...I was there, but I don't remember a thing.

Speaking of Dave P...He fucking destroyed it last Friday at the NightTime party. He played for at least 4 hours opening for MSTRKRFT. I danced hard. Left shortly thereafter. 2 for 1 well drinks don't make for longevity.

Here's a gem from his set. The original is kind of a Pete Tong-y guilty pleasure, but the Claude Von Stroke remix is the tits.

Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up For Detroit (Claude Von Stroke Mix)

PUT YOUR HANDS UP FOR CHICAGO.

I'll be in Chi this weekend. If something urgent is going down, let me know.

YUKSEK | "Appealing to One's Mind as well as One's Legs"

YUKSEK is from Paris. I'm a huge fan. Go figure.

I gave you a taste of his sleazy Parisian tech-hop style via Break Ya on INACTION:ACTION 6, as well as Dark Days, Bright Nights 4 (which went out via Podomatic last week, I'll post a tracklist soon).

Blair over at MFR posted all of the details on our brother in sound, YUKSEK (Pierre-Alexandre Busson to his Mom), as well as his new track Crosswords. The kids of Fluo have a copy of Break Ya for ya and Call Me Mickey has the very Headman-ian (or -esque) Plastik.

I hear that his live show is nothing short of amazing. Look how many hands are in the air! Fist pump! Pogo!

Speaking of Headman. YUKSEK works very closely with the Man and his fantastic Relish Recordings. Go here for a crazy giraffe clown video of his newest single Moisture (On) Featuring Stephen Deweale (Soulwax). (Also on Dark Days)

I'm pretty sure we have an exclusive for you, P-A sent it to me last night. This banger is YUKSEK's contribution to the forthcoming Relish Label Compilation mixed by Headman himself...

YUKSEK - COMPOSER

Hop on your Pogo. Come out Tonight or Thursday. You'll hear tons of Headman and Yuksek.

Klaxons | Linkville

The Klaxons were fun last night. They started off a bit wobbly, but pulled it together and closed off a really tight, fun set. I think the crowd will be more into them on a Thursday night. It went LATE for a Tuesday...

NEW LINKS
Scroll down the right side of the site. I FINALLY updated my links. I've been really bad about it. Check them out. Lots of new music sites. Givin' respect to those who respect. Ya dig?

DJ Heartbeat | Door Bitch

TAPE has a fantastic mix from DJ Heartbeat (also Parisian). He runs a club night called Dement3d and weaves disco classics into techno classics with ease. Its a total trip, so sit back and space out. For fans of cool shit.

DJ Heartbeat - September Mix (let me know in the comments if the link goes flat, I'll EzArchive it for you) (UPDATE: Megaupload from DJ Heartbeat)

Speaking of cool shit, Thomas Onorato, the door "guy" who hasn't let me in to a single Motherfucker party in the past year, does his quarterly rundown of new clubs in New York Magazine. My favorite quote re: whom would be visiting the new club Tenjune, "The meatpacking crowd. Some are New Yorkers, some are tourists, and they all think it’s the hot place. I think the term "bridge and tunnel" is becoming obsolete because look who lives in Manhattan these days."

Fantastic.

LCD is in the hooooouse....YEAH

Soulwax, Nite Versions, 2ManyDJs...whatever you want to call them: KILLED. Beyond killed. I haven't danced like that since I was 18.

I want them to play at my wedding.

I wasn't expecting to go nuts, but then they opened with their version of Daft Punk's Teachers. I jumped as high as I could and didn't stop bouncing through the whole set. They pounded through Soulwax originals mixed up with their "versions" of huge dance classics, in a DJ-esque continuous mix. I was seriously freaking out until the acid breakdown of Tomas Andersson's Washing Up. RETARDED.

I wasn't the only one flipping out. It was a fucking dance party.

I've got pictures and a sweet video of E Talking, but my Macbook died this morning while trying to upload. HELLO APPLE! I'm going to get physical with a Genius this afternoon...I'll post pictures and the video ASAP.

Studio B is scuzzy and amazing at the same time. Greenpoint is, in fact, remote.

(This substitute picture is from Nite Versions in Madrid.)

Soulwax - Teachers
Soulwax - E Talking
Soulwax - Miserable Girl
Tomas Andersson - Washing Up (Click for sample via Boomkat)

Random Friday-ness

I'm bored so here's some stuff to check out.

Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back (Freeform Five Remix)

Tokyo Police Club are back in NYC. They play Saturday night at an under publicized event back at, you guessed it, STUDIO B. Warm up Greenpoint, looks like we are going to be spending some time together this winter.

TPC - Citizens of Tomorrow
TPC - Shoulders & Arms
TPC - Nature of the Experiment

Go here for one more track.

My buddy Mr. Blair DJs tonight at the Swedish Good World bar (Orchard 1 block below Canal) bar on the LES tonight, all night. More dancing!

Download all the links on a given page with FlashGot & Firefox. Helps with this site and others down the right...
