Rapture at Crash Mansion | Week of ¡Forward, Russia!

This week in New York Fuckin City is out of control. I feel like crap already and its only Monday.

I saw the Rapture last night at Crash Mansion. I hate going out on Sundays, but it was well worth it. They ripped through a tight set of old and new material. Most notable of the new stuff was a track they called "Devil". Its got a sleezy bassline and some quirky electronics that really make the track feel like a summertime jam. A quick note about the crowd. About 75 percent were mostly sober working stiffs like myself and about 25 percent were totally FUCKED up skeeez balls. I mean these kids were rocking like it was the last party, the real Christian Rapture and shit. I wish I could have rocked it that hard, but someone has to keep the economy churning come Monday morning.

This week will kill you if you aren't prepared. Here's the rundown:

Monday:
Telepopmusik @ Don Hill's

Tuesday:
Radiohead @ MSG Theater
the Boy Least Likely to @ Knitting Factory

Wednesday:
¡FORWARD, RUSSIA! @ MERCURY LOUNGE
(If you read this blog regularly, your presence is required)

Friday:
Simian Mobile Disco (Fixed Party) @ Don Hill's

(See below for their fantastic new track on Kitsune. Go here for an awesome video of Justice vs Simian - We Are Your Friends). Find me at the party on Friday and I'll buy you a beer.

To get you pysched for that party, I've put together a dance centered INACTION:ACTION Vol. 3. It'll go live in a few hours...

New Blog Theme Song | Peaches - Downtown

I haven't been the biggest fan of Peaches in the past, BUT this track absolutely kills.

Peaches - Downtown

I think this might be the Slap You in Public theme song, for a few weeks...

Hopefully, this will hold you over until I can get the new podcast up.

The Boy Least Likely To put on a great show last night. Lots of witty English banter, even a dig at Radiohead. Pictures, soon? We'll see...I'm having upload problems with my wireless router at home, any ideas?

Justin Sconza of Walter Meego Sunday June 18th @ Knitting Factory

You know we love Walter Meego. Listen to the podcasts, listen to the upcoming Vol 2 of Dark Days, Bright Nights. Its infectious, its haunting, its straight up foward thinking music. I missed catching Super Meego (their hybrid party rocking DJ/effects set) when I went to Chicago due to the lovely summertime NYC weather...but I rocked a copy of their "Make it High" mixtape when I was cruising around the Hamptons a few weeks back.

Justin Sconza (lead singer for the Meegos) is playing a solo gig on Sunday night at the Knitting Factory Tap Bar. Think a more stripped down version of Walter Meego. I plan on being there. I can't wait to pick up a copy of his album.

Super Meego is coming soon to a party near you...hint hint. 7/8...hint.
