Dark Awesomeness From Sweden

Skinny Jeans, Blonde Models, never ending winters...Sweden has downtown New York figured out.

Speaking of our Nordic hipster brethren: The Knife have just put out a killer new album. Swedish-winter-night goosebumbs good.

If you've heard "Deep Cuts" (their last album), you know that techno, ambient, electro, and Jamaican rasta make a good mix. "Silent Shout", the darkest name for an album I've seen in ages, is much tighter and sexier than "Deep Cuts".

Not sure when it comes out, but I have it on my IPod, if you get my drift...

Check out the first single. "Silent Shout" (MP3)

They should tour soon.

The Week in Rock

This week is the week of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's. They are playing some incredibly small shows to warm-up for their tour of world domination. If you didn't know that, Karen-O will rip your heart out and show you your still bleeding heart to show how black it is.

YYY's schedule:
Thursday @ Maxwell's Hoboken
Friday & Saturday @ Bowery Ballroom

Tickets are super sold out. Shows are never sold-out for rich people though.

Tonight

Spacey, synthy, noisey, and dark. Relive the 80's tonight at Northsix:

Oh My Rockness presents:
Bravo Silva, A Place to Bury Strangers, The Fatales, Unlove

The show starts at Nine.

The Fatales should go on at 10 pm. I really want to see these guys. They sound like I would sound if I were a band. I've been trying to catch them for months. Hit their site for some mp3s.

(If I post it, it means I might be there. If you see a post about the show tomorrow, that means I was)

UPDATE: Work sucks. No show for me.

Yes Yes Yesessses Part 1

It went down in Hoboken. Total bitch to get to, but well worth it. Johnny Knoxville was there. Karen-O didn't give a fuck. She and the Yeah's killed the fuck out of their new material. Get to their Bowery shows if you can. I saw some chick grab a set-list, so if I can locate it, I will post. 95% new songs. They closed with "Modern Romance" and "Tick".

Tick tick tick.

A few more photos here.

UPDATE: Via Miss Modernage the set-list has arrived. "Gold Lion" rocks even harder live, but "Phenomena" blew me away.

SET LIST:
Turn Into/ Gold Lion/ Honey Bear/ Mysteries/ Art Star/ Phenomena/ Rockers/ Sweets/ Cheated Hearts/ Maps (acoustic)/ Miles Away/ Modern Romance/ Tick

Mario Batali Eats the Lower East Side

Michael Stipe and Mario Batali were at Tiswas at the Annex on Saturday night. Not for long. Probably because I kept trying to take pictures of them.

A few questions popped into the collective minds of those in attendance:

1. Why do they hang out together?
2. How can one man be so fat?

Sorry this is from behind, but you know thats the way things go down on Saturday night...

YYY's pictures to follow.
